Rocket Factory

Q: How long does each session take?
A: We are quite flexible about this but the normal timing is 30 rockets built in one hour, either by individual students or in groups.

Q: How do the rockets work?
A: We use safe, compressed air to shoot the rockets up to 300 ft in the air.

Q: What area do you need to launch the rockets?
A: We require a minimum area about half the size of a football pitch.

Model Rocketry

Q: How long does each session take?
A: We need about 3 hours of work time, this usually includes sufficient time to launch. This can be split over a lunch break to allow the glue to dry

Q: What difficulty level is this activity?
A: We have slightly different kits requiring different skill levels. We can cater for ages 11+

Q: How much area do you need to launch?
A: A large field, about the size of 2-3 football pitches is the minimum. If there is a wind a larger field is needed.

Q: How do the rockets work?
A: They use a solid rocket motor, basically a form of firework.

Q: Are the rockets a threat to aircraft?
A: Unless you are exceptionally close to an area of restricted airspace, e.g. an airport, there are no problems as the rockets do not fly high enough to interfere with aircraft.
